More about Mike

Mike graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and served the local church as a youth pastor and lead pastor for 32 years. His passion has always been to connect with the "outsider", the person that doesn't wake up on Sunday mornings with church on their mind. He has purposefully designed and programmed his ministry and ministry space to welcome the newcomer. 

Mike has served as a search consultant for Shepherd Staff, a full service staffing ministry for local churches, for the past 3 years. He absolutely loves the opportunity to work with the local church and connecting them with qualified staff members. He works with all evangelical denominations and finds a great joy seeing the Kingdom grow within the church ministries. 

Mike was baptized as a baby in the Methodist church. As a teenager his family joined the Lutheran church and he was confirmed at that time.  While a student at Angelo State University in Texas, he became a member of the Baptist church.  During his time as a youth pastor, he regularly worked together with the pastors from other denominations to make a greater impact in his community. 

While getting his undergrad degree he felt called to continue with his studies in business. The marketing and management classes have always benefited him in understanding the role of reaching the community. He often sees simple miscues by the local church in how they market to the people they want to reach. 

Mike enjoys life as much as humanly possible. His family and friends enjoy his BBQ just as much! His grandpa name is Goober and when he doesn't have to be serious, that is exactly what he is. Woodworking, travel and cheering on his favorite sports teams are a part of his fun. Most likely you will meet his beautiful wife Michelle during the weekend visit as she is an integral part of Fresh Eyes.
